Death Penalty in the USA

No current death penalty statute

In France, the death penalty was abolished in 1981. Whereas in the USA 38 states out of 50 use it still.
Since 1976, 1099 convicts were executed in the USA. Texas has record with 355 executions.
The convicts are generally detain in a high security prison in special area : The death row.

Women represent 1,58 % of inmates.
Since 2005, it's forbidden to execute a personn who isn't eighteen at the time of events.

The convicts choose the execution type. Lethal injection and electric chair are the most use. There are gas chamber and hanging too.

There are two opinions of the sbject.
- People who are for say : death penalty is a protection for society and it's a kind of deterrence.
- People who are against say : the forgiveness is more important, we can't take a life and an irreversible sentence.

To conclude, you can saw some fims about death penaty : "Dead man walking", "Prison break", "Dancer in the dark"...
